Don't make me go back!

Well, like it or not, my Spring Break is coming to a close. I have today and tomorrow and then I'm back to school. Granted, this time I'll have all new classes (no more Methods and thank goodness no more Assessment), but school is still school. To give you an idea, I got an e-mail from one of my profs for next quarter (who also happens to be the director of my entire program) about how excited he is to get to know us and all that junck (somehow each prof doesn't realize that we've all had classes together for 2 quarters now and that they are the only ones who don't know us, but oh well), and that how he plans on doing it involves us bringing 3 magazines with "images that intrigue" us, scissors, and a glue stick. Oh boy, doesn't that sound like 2nd grade again?! I'm sorry (no I'm not), but I'm in graduate school and don't really want to waste my time (and money, btw) cutting out magazines and gluing them to something. That just seems really stupid and a waste. Besides that, I don't HAVE 3 magazinge I don't mind being cut up, nor do I have a gluestick, and I see it as a total waste of MY money to go out and buy them for this stupidly pointless activity.

Yes, since you all know me, I'm going to do it, but I'm not going to like it. True, the activity will probably not be horrible or bad or anything, I just think it's stupid. It's stupid and its demeaning. If I wanted to do artes and crafts I wouldn't be in gradschool for teaching JH and HS! There's a reason I'm not going to be an elementary school teacher, and this is one of those reasons. There's nothing wrong w/ it, but its really not my thing.

Ok, I'm getting way to worked up about something stupid, so I'll stop now. It's been nice to be on break, though it didn't go as well as I would have liked. No trip to Mt. St. Helens like I wanted. Oh well, maybe this summer.

Spring Break!

Ha! As of about 10 minutes ago, I'm on Spring Break!!! I'm so excited! I BSed my way thru my portfolio assignment for my assessment class and was done! I now have lots of relaxing and fun planned. If you're just hanging around and have nothing to do in the next week and a half we should get together.

I only have two official things planned so far: Smallville fest at Ben's on Saturday, and going down to Mt. St. Helens sometime, probably next week. Other than that I plan on sleeping in and relaxing. Two things I don't do much of anymore.

I had a dream two nights ago that I was actually going to England and Scottland for spring break. Boy was I dissapointed when I woke up! But just not being in school is definatly a good thing and I'll take it.

Working like mad

...or maybe I just should be. Seriously, I have so much to do in the next 3 days that I just can't get started on it (some of you may know the feeling I'm talking about). I spent nearly 8 hours on Friday working on my unit plan. That was a long day of working hard. By 4:30pm when I e-mailed it to my prof my creativity was definatly shot. Thankfully I had an escape waiting for me: I went and had dinner w/ Ian and Katie. It was great to see them and just chill.

Yesterday consisted of a drive down to SeaTac for a teacher's professional development workshop/conference thing. It was actually pretty cool. I was invited to go from a science teacher at Skyview who's involved in it and got a chance to meet the superintendent of the Northshore School District (a little intimidating and I'm sure she won't remember me, but I'm sure it was good). At the conference I took a safety module (acutally, it was more like a "here's cool demos" module) and an astronomy module. The astronomy one was especially great because I'll be teaching astronomy this spring when I go back to Skyview.

On my way home from there Paul called and invited me over to his place for dinner and games that night. So I putzed around for a while avoiding my next due assignment and then goofed around that night. Cool time.

Now I'm at the point where I've napped the afternoon away and must begin thinking about going back to church for our Praise-n-Baptism event, even though I have an 8-12 page paper due tomorrow that I haven't started on. I have a feeling Monday will closely resemble Friday...

Woosh!

So much to say, so little time. In a few short hours I'll be headding off to Cle Elum for 8th Grade Retreat. I really shouldn't be going because of all the final projects I have due early next week, but oh well.

UW classes are tollerable, though the countdown to spring break is underway (as of today, only 4 class days left). I'm tired and will be tired this weekend. Any extra prayers both for myself, but also for the students who need to wake up to some things, would be appreciated.

That's about all I have time for for now. You'll just have to hope to catch me sometime later when I'm not running around so crazily (right, like I'm ever not doing that)
